“One should not pursue goals that are easily achieved. One must develop an instinct for what one can just barely achieve through one's greatest efforts.” - Albert Einstein
You’d be hard pressed to find someone who lives more purposefully than Anne Galyean. She boldly leads by example and lights the path for womxn, supporting them in integrating mountain biking into busy, full, and productive lives. Anne has been challenging the status quo in both the outdoor community and in the STEM fields, demonstrating what a weekend warrior can accomplish in a perfectly-imperfect balance between racing and a full-time career.
Last year, Anne took a step back from racing to recenter on her science career and currently works full-time as an environmental toxicology consultant in Seattle, WA. As a pro ambassador for Juliana and SRAM, she also coaches (with a PMBIA level 1 mountain bike instructor certification), takes on media projects, and generates community engagement. To prove that a weekend warrior can maintain a full-time job and still race competitively, Anne raced one of the hardest, blind multi-day enduro events, the Trans BC, in 2019 and placed fourth overall.
If you left for a big mountain bike trip tomorrow, what are the top 3 things you couldn’t live without?
"My Star Wars pillow, my kindle, and clean riding gloves."
