"Be nice, think first.”
19-year old Polly Henderson, one of Juliana’s youngest enduro racers, presently lives in the Scottish Borders where she rides and trains on world-class trails, although her real home is an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere in Dumfries and Galloway where she grew up.
Polly’s first race was at seven years old, old enough to fall in love with the sport and start a career out of it.
In cross country racing at the national level, she found her affinity for technical trails and fast descents, so it was no surprise when at 16-years old she turned to enduro to showcase her abilities. Her favorite races have been the EWS in Zermatt in 2019, placing 2nd in U21 and the Trophy of Nations in Finale, where she was on the GB Team, and they won the World Champs jerseys.
Polly loves having specific goals to work toward, and has focused on doing plenty of racing in 2021 to help her become a professional team rider. Another goal this year is completing her HND in Sport development and coaching with a performance sport, which means alongside the theory she also gets coached by a local coaching company to become a better racer.
When did you start biking? Why did you start? What made you a lifer (was it a moment, a ride, a trip, etc.?)?
"I think I learnt to ride a bike when I was 3 or 4, my dad was into mountain biking, so he’d take me down to the local trails to ride, I love going home to ride with him now. When I did my first race I was hooked, I’ve raced ever since!"
